i got a new car a couple of weeks ago and well i hate the lights i drive in the country a lot, I live in a small town outside of calgary... i only cleared my head lights last time but it was sanded a reclearcoated looks like new had one new light from the last owner and couldnt tell them apart after so im getten that done and HID i wont the ones that sill have the hi beam the h4 i beilve how hard is it looks easy form what read and whats a good brand seems xeon is popular? and its HID low beam and holagen hi beam? correct?

Is it any good or should I get something else. Driving at night especially after it rains sucks really bad. I might as well hold a candle, this is as much as my stock headlights work. I can't see nothing.

Yeah HIDs must be a popular selling item in eBay, there's literally thousands to choose from as a result. The only things you really need to keep in mind is that it's 9004, that you're getting the whole kit and not just the bulbs, the regular/slim ballasts is just that - the size of the ballasts and won't make any difference other than take up less space, and regular kits will have halogen hi-beams so if you want HID hi-beams you need to get that bi-xenon kit.

Stock headlights suck, but they are still designed for halogen bulbs. Halogen reflectors cause glare. Period. For example, see the three hotspots above the cutoff? That's what blinds other people on the road. Even if you aim the lights retardedly low, the hotspots will still be there.
This is an example of a horrible HID hackjob. Notice the light output all over the place. When you install crap like this, you are actually downgrading the performance of your lights.
Even with the Spyder projectors (look for the topic with 8364589324645742 pages, only one on MX-3.com), there looks like there is going to be a horrible hotspot right smack in the middle. I will be cracking mine apart to see if there is anything I can do to eliminate the hotspot completely before the HIDs go into it.
Now this is an example of OEM HID installed in a proper housing. Notice the sharp cutoff and no hotspotting.
tl;dr version: installing HID bulbs in halogen housing = rice and stupid

the last picture looks like someone partially shut garage door and it looks like "sharp cutoff". Can you post a picture of HID's w/projectors shining on the garage door?

This one looks like an European-spec projector. Notice how it slants up as opposed to "stepping up" like you see in the ones above.
Basically, proper HID lighting would have a wide spread of light, razor sharp cutoff with a step or slant up on the right side for lighting up signs. This is of course assuming you drive on the right side of the road and not the left.

either way thats the best your gonna do for the mx3
unless you retrofit.
