Turbo Manifold

Post by Deadpool »

I have not really seen much in here or the FAQ about what Turbo Manifolds with fit the DOHC 1.6 and was wondering if the Miata 1.6 one would fit right

just for general info
i bought one
i had to do a little "aftermarketing" to the aftermarket manifold
as far as i could tell it would either be cutting some of the shroud on the hood or taking out the primary fan
your better off getting it custom made for cheaper

yeah depending on the turbo you use, you would need to cut the hood, and not in a spot to put a scoop

FYI - The turbo exhaust manifold from a 88 or 89 Mazda 323 GTX is a direct bolt-on for the DOHC 1.6 (i.e., the B6DE). Moreover, the same exhaust and turbo gaskets fit quite nicely.

My local Mazda dealership can still get them and you can also get them from Corksport... Or you can have the manifold made.

make note though
you can only use the vj and vf series turbos
i decided to just use this cheapo manifold as a base and make mine based off a t3/t4

From what I understand I think the stock DOHC 1.6 has oil spray cooled pistons and handles boost well

If the maita turbo manny fits just cut it off at the flange and flip it, then reweld. So simple.
