New here, help me out a little please!

Post by 2.5mazda »

Hello,

I have a 1993 mazda mx-3 GS with the 2.5 probe GT engine swap. I have a corksport strutbar, tokico blue struts, eihbach ground control springs, DC headers, stainless Brullen catback, and a PRM cold air intake. I also have a nitrous setup sitting here for a rainy day. I have heard they will handle a 75 shot? I have half a motor in extra parts in my garage, mostly heads in case I need a rebuild or replacement. I plan on running a 50 shot off the bat. What can I expect out of this setup?

Is this a decent setup? How do the parts on my car rank among others available? I found them reasonably priced and bough my upgrades without really researching first. I have had 2 civics with JDM motors and I can see there are a lot less parts for these mazdas. I like a challenge and a car that hardly anyone else owns let alone even knows what it is! I just put 2 BRAND NEW axles in it, (not the re-man ones) 2 ball joints, 2 tierod ends, and a new carrier bearing for the right side halfshaft.

thanks, and glad to be a part of the forum!

(are oil leaks a common problem with these motors? if so, where should I check first, mine leaks a little bit but its hard to tell where from, before I dig into it, I was wondering if it is common and it may be easy to diagnose)

seems likce a nice setup you have there...

can you tell where the leak is coming from or general area? That will give us a better idea as to which solution would be the best for you..

Also, a quick aside... the headers you have from DC, can you possibly tell me the model number.

Welcome to the board..

I say, Ahmed. What is that thing you do when you're about to assassinate an infidel?

I am pretty sure that DC Sports never made headers for the 2.5 Mazda Engine.

Agreed, the headers must be a different brand. Other than that you should have about 150 WHP and 150 WTQ.

The 50 shot should boost that up to about 175ish and a 75 shot to about 200. (maybe more, but depends on how you plumb it and other factors)

As for the leak they usualy leak from the valve covers if the leak is external. If it is blowing oil out the tail pipe the rings are bad. Both are fairly common and neither will cause a real problem as long as the leak is not bad and you change the oil regularly.

If you want more power there is a group buy for a turbo kit for the V6 MX-3 that should put the motor around the 250-300 WHP range without nitrous. You'll need some spark and fuel management to go with the kit though.
