v6 manual conversion question.

Post by skdrcr »

Sup fellas.

Here's the question.

My buddy has a KLZE swap in his 93 mx-3.

Well the whole automatic transmission thing didn't work out so
were gonna do a manual conversion.

Do I need to use a 2.5 v6 transmission/shift linkages etc. out of a probe or out of an mx-6, or is it better to use the manual 1.8 v6 tranny
out of the mx-3?

Reason being, I know where a wrecked M/T mx-3 is but I don't want
to get it if the tranny won't work with the KLZE.

Thx, Chris

you need the linkage from an mx3

the tranny itself can come from any of the cars mentioned...probe,mx6,626,mx3

the PGT and MX-3 trannies are identical, the mx-6 has a longer 5th gear.

Make sure to rob the master cylinder, brake booster, pedals, shift knob, actual shift lever, shift boot, slave cylinder hard line and rubber line (or get a stainless steel one from CorkSport) and the aforementioned shift linkage from the MX-3 GS at the junk yard.

you dont need the brake master cyl or brake booster... the reservoir on my original one just had a cap over where you plug the clutch line into

I'm not sure of the differences, but they are not the same part number if memory serves me correctly. I also didn't know the atx just had a cap over the clutch line.
I guess make sure to check your MX for the cap and if it has one then you are in the clear about getting all the engine bay brake stuff. It will save a TON of time. The last MXT swap we did, the brake booster and stuff was about 1/3 of the time it took.
Great to know that they do have the slave cylinder port in the ATX MC. Thanks guys [even if about a year late]
