Re: 92 percedia idle problems

When I had this problem a few weeks back it was down to the throttle body being knackered.

Re: Clutch Switch

Turns out that even though I had to pay £500 for one though I wasn't ripped off even at the ridiculous price, the price from the local main dealer today was - £1100!!!

Re: Clutch Switch

How I'm well peeved - I've jsut found a site on the net (UK) for spares for all types of cars, Mazda included - they've got back today with a quote for a throttle body - £64.63 inc. VAT. Methinks I've been robbed!
The URL BTW is

Re: Clutch Switch

Yeah that's right - it makes no difference to starting on a UK car whether the switch is in or out. All it seems to do on a UK one is to drop the revs a bit - maybe just to save the clutch a bit when changing gear then, I can't think of another reason off hand. I suppose you can change quicker if ...

Re: Engine is revving?

I had a similar problem a while back but it was doing it whether the clutch pedal was in or out once engine revs had dipped below a certain amount (tickover, coming to a stop, changing gear at low speeds). It turned out to be a broken throttle body. The whole unit had to replaced.

Clutch Switch

Not been doing much driving lately - only 6500 miles in the last year. Going good then all of a sudden it seems like everything is goin wrong :)
First the handbrake wore out, not too bad though a pad had been sticking. Still a bit loose so I guess the other is on the way out too.
Then the ...

Re: Wet seatbelt

OK - I'm thick - I can't see where the drains are or where they run to. Anyone know?

Re: Wet seatbelt

The sunroof drain sounds like a plausable cause from the symptoms I've got - I'll give that a good check over.
Thanks :-)

Wet seatbelt

This one is baffling me a bit - drivers side seat belt keeps getting soaking wet (inside the holder). I can't figure where the water is getting in - it seems to be getting wet when the car is standing (heavy rainfall recently) rather than when driving about. It can't be the sunroof or the top of the ...

Re: Engine seems to be getting hot??????

From what I can tell it's the gasket - the spark plugs plug th ehole I think and then when you take them out it allows oil to run into the cylinder. Now burning oil which it wasn't before. So gasket it is. Slightly more tricky job becuase it's 2 of the rear cylinders but shouldn't be too bad.

Re: Engine seems to be getting hot??????

Yeah - I think you're 100% right - they've gone on 2 of the cylinders - just quickly started her up and yes - it's the smell of hot oil. Problem sorted, almost. Fan belt's looking a bit worn so that's going to get replaced as well.
Thanks for teh help :)

Engine seems to be getting hot??????

Any insight ot this one would be greatly appreciated. 1993 1.8 V6. Milage 75000.
The engine seems ot be getting hot - it smells hot and there is powdering on th eunder-bonnet padding. The oil temp however isn't getting overly hot - in summer it runs at about 3/4 but it's getting up to between 1/2 ...
