can i use this mx3gs sensor? and if so what would i need to change to the wire harness to make it work correctly (and if i need some kind of resistor?)

The JE50 will neither fit the SOHC plug nor will it work with the SOHC ECU.

You are not going to get any performance gains from changing the airflow sensor
on the 93 RS engine, just headaches and broken dreams.

yeah thats fine and all but i want a VAF on mine the intake head i have on there is way too big so i want to put custom pipe with a VAF so i can make it fit easier but i do know there is a better one that i can put obviously not a lot better but somthing that will let me take in a little more air right now i have the adapter on the box and the head on that

False.

You can go bigger with a VAF from a DOHC BP, or go even a little bigger which I ran on my turbo B6 and put on a N/A RX7 VAF. You will need to pop it open and re tune it so the car will idle, but it will increase airflow quite a bit. Do a search on Club Protege and you should find the info you are after. It will not be a lot of power but it will be good for a couple of ponies.

My bad *estimated 5 horsepower above 6000 rpm on a NA DOHC BP. Likely less on a NA SOHC B6 with the 55mm throttle body. Wouldn't a better mod be the 60mm throttle body from the 1.8L engine for flow?

*How often/long does a person drive above 6000 rpm normally and it doesn't seem like anyone has any actual dyno charts. The mod seems to be for turbo B engines as a way to lean the fuel out a bit. I don't think anyone even considered what happens to the torque curve either...

I think you would be pleasantly surprised what it would do, and yes, a 60mm TB would be a better mod. Another mod would be a 1.8L SOHC ECU to increase that redline. I go over 6K daily...

okay all i was asking was for a part number for the VAF to look for on the net with the minimal work once i know i got the VAF ill look into how i need to connect it....

did you say if i swap my throttle body from the SOHC one to a DOHC one itll give me more power? (obviously not a whole lot)

I don't have a Vaf/Maf anymore Josh, can't compare :p

Yeah the DOHC one is a bit bigger, have a peek at this list here:

90-94 Mazda 323 SOHC 8v 1.6liter (B6): 50mm
90-94 Mazda Protege SOHC 16v 1.8liter (B8-ME): 55mm
90-94 Mazda Protege DOHC 16v 1.8liter (BP-DE): 60mm
92-93 Mazda MX-3 SOHC 16v 1.6liter (B6-ME): 55mm
94-95 Mazda MX-3 DOHC 16v 1.6liter (B6-DE): 55mm
91-96 Ford Escort GT DOHC 16v 1.8liter (BP-DE): 60mm
91-96 Mercury Tracer LTS DOHC 16v 1.8liter (BP-DE): 60mm
91-96 Ford Escort LX-E DOHC 16v 1.8liter (BP-DE): 60mm

Just find a 60mm donor grab a new gasket or make one with permatex and away you go.

For the RX-7 VAF you just need a 86-88 B code

okay i understand the size for the tubing. really ill need to get custom bent pipe for it to fit on the b6.

which one of thos would be the best though? with the least amount of configuration OR the best performance one that will work with mine....

also should i change the throttle body as well with it? say i find the car specific with the item in it that i need if i need to grab the throttle too ill do it but really my plan WAS to just get the VAF online but if its specific and i need the throttle body too i might as well take a trip over to jacks or hollands over here
