CS Mazdaspeed Sideskirt mounting?

Post by MrMazda92 »

I've been debating which sides I want to throw on my '92 for a while now, Euro minis or MS replicas.

I like the look of the MS better, but am a little apprehensive about the install... I'm much more comfortable with the simplicity of the OEM fit minis.

I searched around briefly, but found no detailed guide on mounting the sides(I did for the front though, no surprise there!), and am curious if anybody has a neat procedure written out previously.

Thank you kindly!

when all else fails... self tapping metal screws and some 3m outdoor double sided tape seems to solve most problems when installing parts :P

What about pre-drilling the fiberglass though? I know how brittle it can be, Do people drill through and use the Euro mini mounting kit? I'd like to do whatever I can to avoid damaging the body or the sides themselves...

In depth is helpful! :D

i had a shop put on my MS sides, the sides already had mounting points so the shop just drilled holes in the car where mazdaspeed put holes on the skirts and then put rivets to hold the skirts in place.....but the mounting points were 2 by the wheel one on the front inside, one on the top middle and one on the bottom front.

Sounds good guys, thank you! Mini side mounting is genius too.

My mini sides had holes which matched up with some black 'plugs' on the underside of my car. I removed the plugs, went to my local Stealership & bought some mini sides bolt holder plug things. These were a peice of white plastic which the bolts screwed into, with a rubber seal thingo which perfectly held it in the hole left by removing the plugs my car came with. I just popped the 3 in each side, put the bolts (I got from the donor car) & used some automotive-grade double-sided tape to hold the top of the mini side to the body of the car (this is how they were fitted OEM). Use some bolts in the visible spots in the Wheel arch & its all fitted & ready to rumble ;)
Hope this was useful/relevant hahaha
Any Q's just let me know :)

Thanks Ethan! :D

I do have the OEM mounts for the Mini Sides, and I do plan to use them for these... I'm almost thinking I'll paint both sides, so I can go back and forth until I'm satisfied with which I want to keep.
