suspention work

Post by stangant »

Well seeing as my car is a 93 and I can tell that the shocks and struts absolutely need replaced. What is the recommended replacement? I will not be lowering the car at all as it is my around town car and my mustang is my monster. haha OH and it is a GS btw. I'm guessing that probably matters with that big ol v6 stuffed in the front.

OE quality replacements will do you just fine. I'm running them, and couldn't be happier. Granted, that's a daily driver that doesn't see track use... Yet.

I'm anti-lowering for daily drivers, so I respect that you're avoiding that.

KYB makes a very good shock for our cars. If your springs are bagged too you can stil get them from the factory I think. Any other replacement spring is going to be significantly stiffer than stock.

I still like my H&Rs and OE shocks on my daily. Keep in mind if your running on 18yr old suspensioned its already lowered from age. I didnt even notice I height change when I swapped springs as worn as my suspension was. A worthwhile trade for the upgrade, heck even the alignment was on with out using camber bolts too!

I just went to the part store and they will be 80$ a piece... That is ridiculous. I am looking online for a good website now..

If you are in the states www.rockauto.com has KYB's for I think 45 each. Shipping within
the states is pretty reasonable.

cheapest place I know of is Shox.com you will have to look under escort. 80 each is kind of steep for OE replacements. one thing that might help with your springs would be to swap the driver side spring with passenger side spring. usually the driver side will get a bit more sag over the years.

This is some kind of oxymoron "dont go cheap man" ... "Ksport"... Really ... Really? for one he said OE replacement and for two look above, 3. if 80 each for OE replacements was too much then obviously Ksports are not on his list. BTW Ksports... They are cheap...
