Re: rim size
Im running 15x8 ET15 with 195/50/15 Tires and rolled arches and its very flush so that gives you an idea of how wide you can go.
I do not understand your fascination with 17's or 18's over here though!

Re: rim size
I think the MX's wheel wells are so big they are meant for 17 or 18 inch wheels. I have 17x7 with like a +42mm they fit great could be more flush though, thats why i got spacers. I think with the proper offset you could get 17x8 or 9" under it. 18's are HUGE and with the proper rubberband size tires it makes the ride height look like a truck. I like 18's but the car is so small it looks a bit off in most applications I have seen.
But to answer your question the 626 5 lug bolt pattern is 5 x 114.3 and you CAN run 17 and 18 inch wheels

What I want to know is what is your plans to put 5-bolt rims on a 4-bolt car?

and with 17's and a decent low ride height you will end up with some nasty reverse rake

I never never had that issue with my RS running Eibachs. But that's what GC's or coilovers are for

Re: rim size
reverse rake would be negative castor I guess.
I'm running 17x7 et 42 and it's very very close to the strut body on the inside. But it does look really good. Be warned though, if you put a large open design wheel like a 5 spoke with thin spokes it will really highlight how small the stock brakes are.
looks kinda goofy.

Re: rim size

The rake is the angle in which the car is sitting relative to the height from front to rear. A front rake would have the front of the car lower than the rear, but in this case it is revered with the rear end lower than the front.. Which if you had your car corner weighted and balanced they would do this to get it as close as they can to a proper 50/50. Really has absolutely nothing to do with the size rims if you have the proper dia tires to go along with them. The rs is 205/40/17's and the GS is 215/40/17's

Re: rim size
Thanks, I never know what to call that
GF's civic had massive reverse rake when we lowered it, so we put the stock springs back in the rear and look way better. I love a bit of front rake.... makes it look super aggressive.

Re: rim size
Ive seen plenty of reverse raked mx3's on here with 17's Im afraid , even mooneggs has a touch going on and He has coilovers! even though His car looks parralel to the ground along the sill the rear wheel to arch gap is smaller than the front thus giving the look of reverse rake.
Its funny you go alot of miata forums and they will laugh you out the park for wanting to put 17's on a miata, most of them wanna run 14's
Its just too much wheel for me for a small car and I know im banging my head against a brick wall here so I'll shut up now
