Distributor compatability?

Post by jbud1291 »

Hey guys, long story short, the disty in my mx just went bad so i decided to look around at a couple junk yards and what a suprise....nobody had one lol. But what i did find was a couple probe gt's all with decent condition disty's. Would a PGT disty work with my mx? I thought i read on here before that it would work but i couldnt find the thread. Any info would help. Thanks, Jim

If I recall correctly, yes. As long as the engine is the same. I think I took one off of a PGT with a Mazda V6 and it worked the same (I ended up replacing it with a brand new one after a bit though).

I do recall correctly, and as long as the T0T number is the same it will work perfectly without modification. There are only 3 varieties of distributors.

KL ones work fine, as long as they T0T number is the same.

Since you have a 93, technically any OBDI distributor will work, you just have to do some re-wiring. If you want direct bolt-on without modification you have to match the T0T numbers.

You can use a TOT57071 or 2, the Probe probably has the 072. Check that the disty cap is the same as yours.

I know you believe that you understand what you think I said but I'm sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
