Mi|<e's 94 Blue GS

Post by Mi|<E »

Picked this up and figured I may aswell do a worklog to keep track of the
crap I do to it. 1994 Blue GS loaded with everything the car came with
less the heated seats. Has 189750 km's on it and im changing the timing
belt, water pump and upper gaskets. Also did the fuel filter and have never
seen such clean intake valves and air filter( 15k old)

Got the interior cleaned out and the engine reassembled, it ran for about 10 minutes before
backfiring in a blaze of belt slipped glory. I'll have to get another hydraulic tensioner and do
the timing again... At least this time I can leave most of the crap on to re time it.

Its a loaded GS with everything.

Had to replace the distributor and hopefully it wont die on me again.

Also did the mudflaps and front lip in a european undercoating for a textured look to
try something different.

Yeah those ports were ridiculous clean, not sure what kind of gas
was being used.

Brake dust is horrible to clean off rims, but I found a neat product at
the local auto parts store for just the job. The before and after are about
3 minutes apart with some minimal agitation with a toothbrush:

Also did the headlights with some lens restorer, ive done it with plastic polish and
a dremel before - this stuff is the way to go. Took all of 5 minutes for both headlights:

definitely going to try and find some of that auto glym here in calgary, stuff looks like it works really well, lookin good so far man! cant say i would have done the trim in black myself, but, that's just my personal thing stemming from when i used to sell suits... "never mix black and navy!"

the headlight cleaner you used, do you just apply and buff by hand or did you use a polisher?

3M Plastic cleaner works really good on the lenses also. Car looks sharp, I love clean wheels.

I really like the undercoating on the front lip and flaps, looks great with the Blue. Now you just need Euro mini sides to match and complete the look.

Found the Auto Glym at Canadian Tire. As for the headlights all I did was apply it
with a shop towel and swirl by hand as per the instructions.

I figured since the lip and flaps just get smoked with rocks anyway might as well try
something new, has anyone used undercoating on them before?

I undercoated mine.

They collect dust differently, and will discolour over time. Don't try to spray clearcoat over them, the asphalt content in the rocker guard releases something that yellows and cracks the clear.

I have a funny feeling these are the original sensors...
