ground control question

Post by mx3matt »

ok so my gc's and zx2 are in for about a month. a lil rough but that was expected handles like its on rails tho.
my question is do i have to live with constant clunking from what seems to be between the gc upper perches sit under the oem mount.
anyone else have clunky or is something wrong i just figured it might be due to the hybrid setup

Very common. actually to everyone i know. A couple of ways to cure it

- you can do what i did and purchase pre load (or helper) springs. I got mine from CorkSport, they are H&R's that will solve it but take away about 2'' of adjustment because of the height.

- I know you can purchase rubber spring mounts for the top and bottom I just don't remember where. Though you could make your own rubber upper and lower perch mounts to stop the clanking. you can purchase rubber sheets on McMastercar . com

i've wanted your set up since the second you posted it up. i need to find time to measure so i know what helper springs to order and also find the time to fully cut the perches.

I have seen some cut the perches completely off, and for some reason that didn't settle too well with me, kinda scary really. Once i start driving the car I may still make some rubber or polly perch/spring cushions. McMastercar has thermo plastics that might work even better than rubber.

it looks like you have most of the lower perches chopped off. how much of a lip did you leave on the fronts?

I left about an inch, maybe a little more. I used a step down in the perch as my guide as to not jeopardize the integrity of what was left.
