Looking for Suggestions: (Wheels/Tires)

Post by Vecia »

I'm starting to shop around for Wheels and Tires. Checked out a few; (Speedy, Motegi, Paxima, etc...etc...)

Price is a definitely priority here. Would love to get the more bang for the buck. Rim size can be either 16" or 17" but I want to try and keep the appearance pretty aggressive as this car is more for eye candy than flat out performance although I do want to keep the handling top notch if I can. If the rims look awesome though, I may compromise but I would rather not.

So far I have priced wheel and tire packages from 680.00 USD to 900.00 USD and these include wheels such as MB, Speedy, Motegi, Paxima and XXR with Khumo, Falken or "El-Cheepo" Sunny tires. With limited options to keep me bellow the 700.00 USD mark, it's kinda hard to figure out what I need versus what I want.

Any help in this category would be welcomed. Thanks again guys.

Big fan of Konig rims on the Mx-3, they look great in 16 and 17.

Tires, get good ones. My dad got a set of rims for the '99 TL, came with cheap tires in the performance section of a automotive parts dealer. They had a bad vibration at about 80km/h, even had them rebalanced but it was the tires. Was better if I increased the tire pressure, but my dad didn't like the stiff ride. Got the rims powdercoated while new tires were going to go on after, but the trans went and they traded in the car for a 2010 Civic. That reminds me, I need to sell those rims!

99-up Miata wheels looks good on these cars if you can find a good set. They'll probably be cheaper than new rims....Also like the rims Mooneggs has on his daily driver. Don't know what brand it is.

Stick with good tires, dont get chinese branded tires. They use hard compounds and old tread designs. I really dislike it when people get nice rims and then they run cheap a-- tires on them. Falkens are a good entry level tire.

Love the wheels man and I would but too many spokes for what I'm looking for. I appreciate the offer though.

I can dig that. Makes sense. I do like Falken. They have allot of good ratings too.

Hmm, I like the Miata rims too. Those things are hard to find down here as well.

I would like to find some 5, 6 or 7 spoke. I found these Primax (I was saying Paxima. lol) that I like fairly reasonable; tell me what you guys think.

^^^^^If I were to go with aftermarket rims this would be one of my favorites on the mx3.

Those rims are kinda old school. The style is early 2000's and are probably heavy.

This is better:

Check out Rota Grids and other rotas.. Sportmaxx and XXR are decent too for a good price.

The above rims are 20 lbs a piece. Still lighter than the OEM rims at 17 inches and they are manufactured by the sister company that makes XXR. They also make a 5 star that looks pretty good.
