Carbon front end finally finished!

Post by colinsmx3 »

Just some more updates from the S2000 Garage! Finished my front end finally. Got the wing on, now to do some Carbon interior work! She is ready for the track days now! Also looking at getting a Carbon rear diffuser and AMS rear flares. Took these pics Sunday morning... 8 hours later we ended up with 10cm of snow!... Back in the garage she goes!

Holy carbon car...

You know, you shouldn't half a-- it. Where are the door panels? trunk? rear bumper? Put a ply on the quarters too while you're at it.

Looks awesome, except I'm not sure how I feel about the abrupt line between the fender and door...

These cars are ridiculous in autocross stock... I can't imagine all of this weight reduction :)

The fenders are sooooo light compaired to OEM. When I was leaving the shop and putting them in my car the wind almost took them right from my hands!!

I'm still smiling at that carpeted garage. :D The carbon panels look like they've lined up ok. Is the rest of the car staying silver?

How much weight did you manage to shave off with this?

just kind of occurred to me but, did the front end of your car lift up at all from the weight shaving?

front looks good, however the way it is now it looks like car was wrecked you slapped aftermarket sheet metal on there that needs to be painted.

It may look like I slapped some black sheet metal on... but it's carbon... so it's not slapped on sheet metal.
Also I shaved about 75 pounds, the bumper was the heavy item, the OEM fenders were actually alot heavier then I thought they were but then again there huge!
Now the issue with this... is that the S2000 has a 50/50 weight ratio... So I have removed all the spare tire tools and tire to free up some weight in the back.
And I know the wheel gap is the same so I think it sits at the same hieght.
I am going to get a quote on painting the back end of the car a shade darker of grey.

Now all you need to do is hit the booth and paint all those panels. Everything on my front end is CF except for the bumper, and it looks so much cleaner painted.

Also, why didn't you do a turbo first? I test drove of those a few years ago and they are really very underpowered for that great chassis, it reminds me of an RX-8 in that way.

Looking good though so far, everythings lined up nicely.

I do realize that its c/f, however most people don't. I was asked why I have black hood on mx-3 numerous times. Most people think it's been replaced after wreck, only a handful of people realize its c/f
