Cheap simple mods

Post by seanyd08 »

Hey guys, i just purchased a 1995 Mx-3 K8. I was wondering if there are any really simple modifications you can do to these engines to increase horsepower, keeping in mind that i am quite tight on cash.

Also, This is probably a silly question, but due to the engine having "VRIS" or "VLIM", Does this make the engine perform better then any car without this feature if i were to install a K&N Hi-Flow Pod filter? Im not too sure how this feature works, but so far what i have gathered is it feeds off good air intake. So the higher flow filter would increase HP alot?

Cheers, Sean

1989 Nissan Pulsar N13 (Crashed)
1989 Honda Prelude 3rd Gen (Crashed/Flooded)
1991 Daihatsu Charade (Timing belt snapped; Engine destroyed)
1995 Mazda Mx-3 1.8L V6 K8 (Current, Sports Exhaust and K&N Intake).
:) All I want is a good looking car, THAT CAN EAT THOSE COMMODORES! :)

The cheapest and HONESTLY easiest mod that yields the most power is swapping your engine over for a KLDE. You can find them anywhere and its night and day. You may think its hard... but really once you get your hands dirty.. it really isnt.

The other cheap mods wont do anything for hp and your butt dyno wont feel it, no cold air intake, pulles anything will do anything as far as a swap. Its the hionest truth. This is coming from the cheap mod expert!

Headers will work well but really... it wont make almost any difference on the k8,,
