Fuel problem: starving out and surges when accelerating

I changed the fuel pump and ordered a filter.... What else can i check, replace, try?

This is what it does: tries to die when i turn right, surges off and on when i accelerate,
starves out less at faster speeds like 80 and above. Under 70 it starves out and tried to die.
Anyone have any trouble shooting i can try?

So you haven't replaced the filter yet? I've had clogged filters in the past and I experienced 'bucking' when I tried to accellerate especially at lower speeds.

I also have been having problems with surging while turning right.

What I have done so far is ...

1.) I ran the fuel down to about 1/4 tank, then sucked out the remaining contents to remove any rust, water or other possible crud ( It is a 1992 and the tank hasn't been changed so there was some unwanted foreign matter).

2.) Next, the fuel pump sits in a well which has a pickup tube that wraps around the base of the well to draw gas in from the lowest part of the tank. To make sure the pick up tube wasn't partially plugged, I blasted the tube from the well side with some high pressure air so the fuel can flow into the well freely.

3.) Now, I am going to change the fuel pump and pressure side filter, hoping that this will resolve the issue.

Please let me know how things worked out for you! Thanks :driver:

We had same kind of issue that came from tired fuel pump, also the tank was bent from under so the pick-up tube was squeeze and could hardly supply fuel. Make sure it is not the case for you, simply have a visuel inspection from under the car.

I also came across a situation were our customer (I'm working in a car dealer) had problem when turning right with his car (it was NOT a Mazda) turned out to be broken fuel separator from inside the tank, replace fuel tank and everything ok

Hope this will help, good luck

I finished installing the new filter. The car wont start... :crying: so i can't give you an update on the results.

Done: Fuel pump (worked well for two days)
fuel filter (car wont start) Yet!

i thought fuel injected cars automaticly run the fuel pump when you turn it to the on position, so to prime it, you just turn it on and off a couple times (giving a couple seconds when you turn it on)

line will have air in it if you don't prime it.

ok ok ok i bumped a wire to do with ignition. It starts.. everything ok... BUT that wasnt the bucking problem.

*I will ignore the BF comment. Yes he does help me plenty with my cars when i need the help.
Im here cuz i like cars and my interest in how they work shows in my enthusiasm when im here.

Anyway... i have (as i have said before) the SHOP MANUAL and yes i did as it said.
I also went through some of the trouble shooting steps as well.... AND GUESS WHAT???? LOL!
The distributor cap has a crack in it. I wasnt sure if that was a HUGE deal.
So i took the cap off the SE and put it on the white GS &....NO MORE BUCKING....OMG

What it still does: It does still try to die when i turn right.

Progress: no more bucking, no more starving out in any speed

(the rotor is different on the GS SE then whats on the GS) So i still need one of those......
but the caps were the same. So im going to get new for both because they both have some burning marks.

God, I love it when she talks shop. :)

Glad to hear you sorted things out. The fuel filter is a bit of a bit*h to change isn't it.
