Major Bodywork/Fabrication Opinion

Post by Mx3r gsr »

my gs is at the local bodyshop because i cant decide on the direction i want to go with the custom body-kit im having made, and this is holding up my 2.5 swap so maybe i can get some opinions here? I was thinking of making it look like a 93-00 camaro in the front- and rear-end or possibly makin it look like a mini rx-7, i love my mx3 dont get me wrong but i just dont like the stock look, so please feel free to state your opinion

Thanks in Advance

You're probably not going to get alot of favorable responses to this...

Most of us on the forum are not into making the mx-3 look like another car...

I posted a thread a while back with a bunch of crazy modified euro mx-3's - you might be able to get some ideas from that :shrug: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=59798" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

To each his own :)

why do people like bodykits but hate major fabrication, I love the mini rx7 idea.

I say do what makes you happy. i put a 1500 $ bodykit on my zx2 a vis carbon fiber hood and trunk and headlights and mirrors and taillights.

To me i love it and i get so many compliments, But it looks far from a stock escort zx2, But people love origniality.

I plan on making a mesh hood for the mx-3 along with headlight swap from a infinity g35 and id love a rx7 hatch glass, But i also like the tastefull look of sourcing a canadian wraparound spoiler, euro front end or the mp5 bodykit if i ever find one. i love the mx3 for its chassis and i like originality. it looks better than the 1st gen protege and comes higher on my list than the escort gt i had. bodylines are slightly modernized for itS AGE.

GO WITH THE MINI FD RX7 LOOK. i stand behind you 100%

also heres a pic of my zx2 b4 the turbo motro build up, and i dont mean to threadjack , just stating mods r good

I don't get why you would start with a sexy stock car and change it!
Start with something ugly like any Honda, a protege even?? Anything but the sexy curved beauty of the mx-3 This car is proportioned perfectly anything changed just makes it look like a chop shopped waste of scrap.

Just do what you like best ;)

It's your car and if you have pleasure driving it when it looks pink with huge spoilers that should just be as okey as somebody who wants OEM look.
Just another Mx3 freak :)

+1
Not to mention getting a car that, as it is, is VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND, and doing a hack job on it.

I'm gonna jump on the bandwagon. Some cars look better with a body kit, like the ZX-2, some don't, like the MX-3. IF you keep the lines, and maybe exaggerate them a bit, it can still look good, but I see it as pointless. My fast car has some body mod, but still looks like an MX-3. The FD hatch does look good on the MX-3. To be honest, I don't think the MS bumper even goes with the car; too angular.
