so my car didnt come with a cigarette lighter. i purchased a 3 plug + usb hub which i dremeled into my dash above my ashtray (to fit flush), beside where the stock one would go. i also covered the round hole with a piece of lexan to cover the ugly hole ive had staring at me since may. im about to wire it up and im thinking it would probably be best to wire some kind of fuse into the wiring as ill probably have alot of power flowing threw. im planning on using 2 heating/massaging back rests as well as maybe an ipod or some other random attachment. can anyone suggest what kind of fuse i should be using? i cant tell what happened to the original wiring as the car had an alarm at one point and theres a bunch of wires in that area from it... im planning on splicing it into the 12V rail i have going to my amp so some kind of inline fuse would be sweet....
i also have my deck running off of that rail and i want to put a fuse on that aswell. last time i was messing with my wiring i caused a short and my power wire for my deck went up in flames and i almost lost the car ... had to run, pop the hood and disconnect my battery before anything else went up. so that needs to be rewired, and id like to do it properly this time.
For two, drop the idea of your fancy seats. Heating coils draw more power than anything in a car can really produce. You'd fry your alty and battery in zero time flat. Unless its specifically designed to work on a 60A alty, and a 12v system, don't try it. If you're dead set, make sure to upgrade the alternator. Get it rebuilt to 120, or just find a 90A one, see if that cuts it.
Cig lighter is indeed already fused. It would be irresponsible of Mazda to have any circuit unfused. Its through the radio fuse (15A)
Just please know what you're doing before you fry any of your equipment... you shouldn't have to ask what kind of fuse to use. Thats such a no-brainer question. whats the draw on your accessory? use one a bit bigger than that.

was thinking of something like this http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4 ... ushion.jsp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; isnt it made to work in a car? what about using one and another accessory? i know the cig lighter and stereo come prefused. my problem is that i cant find the wires anywhere. the previous owner of my car made a huge mess of the wiring and its almost impossible to figure it all out. is there anyway to rewire into the fuse?
i have the 12v line from the fuses which switches off with the car. i guess that is what the cig lighter is meant to go into. but what do i wire the 12v permanent non-switching line from stereo into? the one that saves my settings and keeps the clock on my deck on when the car is off? i had it just wired into my amp's line but it shorted out when i was messing with some wires. should i redo it like i did before or is there a continuous 12v rail from the fuses somewhere?

? ive been delaying this for weeks. its getting cold out, i dont have a stereo and my dash is ripped apart. i want to put it back together today if possible. i guess my only question is. is there a dedicated permanant 12v rail for the deck? or should i wire it without a fuse into my amps power supply?
The colour codes are found on one of the first pages, and after that, seek out what you want.
