If anyone wants a scanned image of the Mazda emblem (the Mazda badge on the back) I can send it to them. It's what I used when I modified the brake light.
Re: Cool brake light mod curteosy of Night-Shade (says MAZDA)
Nice work! The 'Mazda' looks good in cool brake light.

Did you do this on the front or the back of the glass?
Took the bp+t out of the mx and swapped it into a 95 escort wagon.

Good job! You said you painted it? Did you paint the actual 3rd brake light or the glass?

I painted the 3rd brake light. Used adhesion promoter with a stencil I made with the Mazda badge on the back, and then very lightly coated it with black paint._-Night-Shade-_ wrote:Good job! You said you painted it? Did you paint the actual 3rd brake light or the glass?
I did all of the on the front side of the light assembly.

It looks like there is still some light showing through a little bit, but at least the 'mazda' is clearly visible.

Yeah there is a good bit visible (and It's mainly due to me being overly careful.. I didn't want to coat it too much with paint to where it was ugly)... but if you look at it in the daytime, it actually doesn't look that bad.. it's very visible in the day, and really it almost looks likes the tail light is smoked_-Night-Shade-_ wrote:It looks like there is still some light showing through a little bit, but at least the 'mazda' is clearly visible.
edit:
I have to fix it by the "Z" and "D" though.. you can see a section on both those parts where the light isn't going through and that's because i screwed up there with the stencil... so I'll just get a tiny bit of paint thinner and clean that bit up..

Re: Cool brake light mod curteosy of Night-Shade (says MAZDA)
this is awesome... so you used the oem mazda badge from the mx-3? I guess I didn't think it was that big to make a stencil like that...
I wonder if you could scan in the stencil and we could cut it out?
