turbo advice pls

hi im from the uk,i own a 1.6 auto and i love it but im looking to go down the drag strip a bit quicker so i thought a turbo would do the trick but i dont no were to start.
is there anybody either now how to do this or has already or any other ideas to make it quicker with out changing the engine.
can anybody help please.

swap out the auto would be a first start.
The automatics in these cars are jokes, they barely handle the cars in stock form.
If that isnt an option, be ready to spend some $$ to build that auto

X2! but also the the stock engines aren't the greatest either.. It always comes back to getting a BP block with custom turbo downpipes with a turbo and a G series transmission.

sp3c5 you do know the b6 and bp are virtually the same right? sure the bp is 22 mm longer but did you know every other part that dosent depend on length will swap between them?
they can make plenty of power and handle alot of abuse.

Ya, so put that in your pipe and smoke it.
A bootsed b6 can be a great project.

OKok, so it can be good point proven an taken, but i would only if it was a DOHC ( he never said tho..)

True on the block, parts and all, and compressions are lower to, +1 to you. >.< but it's not for nothing most people buy a BP.

But i must admit, to answer to his question it was off as he stated without changing engine.

So to answer, swap the auto for a stick, theres a nice turbo junkyard list circulating around here somewhere, so thats a start, just call places up. Then you also find junkyard intercoolers as well or kits sold on ebay (Theres also a thread going in the Forced Induction Forums.). You would also need a new exhaust manifold and turbo downpipe a swell among a few other things.

Have to stop you there.
How do you plan on boosting your car? This is information that you NEED to find for yourself. Read the forced induction forums, the worklogs and mr.Search.
If you are going with the 323 turbo mani route (corksport, For sale section or junk yard)
then you only have a few IHI turbo options. Other wise sky is the limit and see my worklog. It shows part numbers and prices that I used for my b6 turbo project.

What about pride, skills, experience and a chance to learn something? You can always sell out and buy a VW like a mac owning pretentious douche. Or you can wrench on your own ride and smoke the cardigan-clad-vw drivers.

and be prepared to take everything apart for something simple like

I agree with you on the pride and learning however i've spent over 5grand on my mx-3 over the 4 years i've owned wasn't to satisfied and i'm looking to sell it now for 1 grand.. i think i just don't like the value part just do your research first b4 committing to a project like that...

The VW actually isn't that bad... vag-com, and the forums are your best friend... did a clutch replacement 2 weeks ago and i have to say it was much easier than the one on the mx-3... Its pretty straight forward just the electrical stuff scares some people.

btw i'm not bashing mx-3 i loved mine i just moved on... and if you look into vdub they have lots of potential... you can get 300whp b4 you have to mod any internals...

You can do that on a bp or a b6 no problem.
