b6bf cheap compressor idea

Post by djArias »

My friend called me and told me that he has got a very cheap compressor from XEDOS 2,3 miller engine, and that as far as his oppinion is concerned it would be easy to install this compressor to mx-3. But I dont know If I understand the Idea of compressor correctly - did I describe everything on the picture correctly (of course the choke will be removed).

Do you think that this is a good idea, and that it is possible to get a Charged Mx-3 for less than 150$?

I thought connecting compressor is easy - why new intake manifold, many people using CIVIC's just add one of those "jackson racing" compresor kit's which includes - compressor, piping, belt and it works fine...?

Because Jackson Racing builds bolt on kits designed for the civic, if someone were to build a s/c bolt on kit for the mx3 then id buy it too.

There'd be a lot of development needed to make an IM that will work with stock sensors.

I may be wrong again - but my friend bought an EATON M45 and he used in in his VW PASSAT. As I said I may be wrong but he said he changed completely nothing just welded eaton under the bonnet used couple of old exhaust pipes and everything seems to be working fine - even the DYNO showed proper BHP power....

Is your car a v6? Doesn't the miller charger have to be mounted above the intake ports? A passat is very different than the mx3.

I have a v4 engine DOHC. I dont know where this compressor is to be installed but looking at it's pictures there are only two holes in it - one goes directly to the engine second to the air filter - which in my opinion makes it a very easy to install and typicall compressor but I'm a little bit affraid that if I'm wrong I may destroy the engine...

sure man, but you can't just magically fasten it to the motor.

and its an I4, not V4.

I've been thinking about it - MX-3 1.6 did have A/C compressor - so if my car doesn't have it there must be some empty space for such a small air compressor :)
I want to buy A/C COMPRESSOR MOUNTING BRACKET and weld this air compressor to it...
Still there are some doubts concerning where exactly does the A/C compressor go and whether welding is the best idea :)

I'm drunk right now and read the post about 8 times, maybe i didn't see it, where did he mention a BOV? If he did he should spend the 150 on cab fair. Welding is such a bad idea, get a bracket CNC cut, or water jetted, if you're dumb use a plasma cutter and a drill i don't effing care. Still a bad idea IMHDO (im my humble drunk opinion). If you want to weld a blower to an engine, you need to take the damn bus.
