brake pad compound

Post by mitmaks »

So I'm looking at Hawk hps ferro-carbon compound brake pads for my moms 96lexus es300. Are these pads any good? would you recommend other compound? How they compare to semi-metallic and ceramic?

I have never heard of ferro-carbon pads before, so I've been doing some digging, and the only information I've been able to find seems to be from the one company that makes them.
I don't know if they're good or bad, but until I can find RELIABLE information on them (that is, information that's not been tainted with publicity), I'm sticking with ceramics.

according to information I've read they're better than most other compounds and are "new" technology. Hawk pads are one of top brands out there so I'm sure they can be trusted.

MAYBE they can be trusted.

We have a saying in my country:"trust kills the man, and gets the woman pregnant."

Maybe they're the next great thing. Maybe a few months from now, I'll be eating my words and everyone will be using them. I hope so. Better brakes are always a good thing.
But until then, brakes are what keep other people from having to scrape my skin off the nearest wall, so I'll just stick with what's proven.

Of course you can do whatever you want. This is just MY opinion... :)
