Rear Caliper Success!

Post by Pedro_mx3 »

Ok so today i set out with the plan of just changing my rear pads, cuz they havent been done for ages and i got some green stuff pads for the front recently. Bank holiday weekend in ireland n s--- so i thought yea why not...
Got the Drivers (right) rear wheel off and started on the caliper to put the pads in... oh my god.

The sliders were so sodding rusted you couldnt move them with a hammer. They were only done about 2 years ago so to say the least i was pissed off, had some luck tho cuz the bottom sliding bolt was loose (lol?) and i managed to turn it 1/4 turn at a time and free up the caliper from the assembly and start working on freeing the pins :welder: allot of brute strength and hurt knuckles later me and my dad some how managed to remove them with a pair of mole grips, sanded em up with 1500 grit and replaced all the grease and wahey! the caliper was reborn and "actually" did some braking for once - my rusty disk is now silver!

wasted 2 mins of ur life reading that sorry but you cant imagine how happy i am after being so pissed off lol! and it goes to prove that seized calipers are doable. Im gonna take the other caliper apart tomorrow cuz its only a few years old an seemed loose but wont hurt to free it up so if any1 wants any tips i can throw up some pics of what i did.

thanks for reading
