Brake rotor size / compatibility

Post by nightfire »

Hey guys,

I searched and couldn't find a definitive answer... probably because my search terms were too generic.. but,

Are the rotors from all years, and all models the same size? I'm about to buy fronts and rears from a guy on ebay who labeled them for a 94-95 4cyl "with ABS." I didn't know there even was such a beast; I thought ABS was limited to the GS.

Are they likely to fit my GS, or were there multiple rotors for our cars?

interesting question... I was under the impression that the brake rotors are the same for all years of the mx-3... however it is new information to me that ABS came on 4 cylinders (over in europe of course) and apparently the 4cylinder also had 4 wheel disc brakes? although this could just be a case of the ebay seller listing it wrong...

I would point you to the uk mx-3 forums but they are not working right now...

bump for those who can advise.

so this topic got me thinking so I started browsing on ebay.co.uk and I found an mx-3 with the 1.6 engine that has rear disc brakes... I'm wondering if ANY mx-3 that has ABS has 4 wheel disc brakes? does ABS work with drums?

UK 4 cylinders are common enough with discs all round, from what I've noticed! That one you've linked has discs on the rears too.

Ask any parts place if the PN's are different for different years of models. I'll go look in Rockauto.com and see what they list.
