Very strange noise from rear suspension

Post by nightfire »

I've got this funny noise coming from the rear suspension (I assume). I've never heard anything quite like it on a car before.

It sounds almost like beer empty bottles in a 2-4 in the trunk. Kinda like a jingling, metal on metal, or metal on glass. Maybe like a really heavy, thick washer loosely rattling on a thick bolt.

It happens under road vibration (small cracks in the road).

It started after I changed my wheel bearings. I assumed maybe I left a tool somewhere and it was jingling, but I looked and looked, and nothing. Wheels are both on tightly with no play. Everything on the suspension looks fine. Spare tire well is empty.

Top plates and main strut bolt are secured.

I'm baffled. Any ideas?

Wierd...

Have you checked your hatch? Maybe the striker needs to be moved down abit.. Throw a peice of tape on the latch loop too.

Yep, checked it. It's tight and well greased.

The noise seems to be coming from the left side of the car and seems to be louder with the window open, so might be originating from outside. :/

I know you believe that you understand what you think I said but I'm sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
