OBD-II sensor data availability

Post by nightfire »

Hey fellow '96 owners,

Has anyone found a way to retrieve more than the minimal amount of data scantool provides by default? Mine is limited to RPMs, O2 sensor voltages, fuel trims, coolant temperature, airflow, throttle position, engine load, and a couple others.

Is this all there is available from our computers, or are there other sensors like EGT, oil pressure/temperature, fuel level/flow, battery voltage, etc., that are just hidden?

AFAIK there are no sensors for that in the 96. Proscan/scanmaster etc and some other software out there can read what PIDs are supported by the ECU......

You need to buy additional software for $19.99 like d-uh you totalling didn't do any research here did you. Like check out the scantool site or use this new internet tool called Google. :)

I know you believe that you understand what you think I said but I'm sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Hah! :p

I went through the source code and didn't find any intentional disabling of any sensors... the ECU is just not reporting them. But I was wondering if there was some special/proprietary mode you have to set it in.
