Re: Alpine's SWR-1242D 12" subwoofer

TYPE R subs are ok... they can get loud in the right box.... 500w rms will be fine on stock electrical system dont worry about that and ditch the cap.... they are useless.... also those subs can handle more the 500w rms as long as you dont send it a clipped signal

a cap is useless.... they cause more harm then good... they are only really good for show... they are only good for a beat or 2 cause as soon as you drain it your electrical system has to work over time to recharge it in turn your defeating the purpose of what they were so called made for...if you have dimming you can try the big 3 upgrade, if that doesn't work try adding a second battery.... if that does not solve your problem your will need a high output alternator but with 500w rms you will have no problem on stock electrical....Type r subs are a good budget entry level sub... if you want a better sub your going to pay for it...so good high end sub company's are... FI Car audio, RE audio, Memphis, DD, sundown, ect..... but don't get me wrong type R's can get F'in loud in the right box.... it's all in the install... Another thing..... you say you need 500w rms @ 4 ohm's? that is going to take a pretty big amp and would be waisting all that money cause you will have probably around 1500w rms amp and using 1/3 of its power..... and going to cost alot more.... get a dual 2 ohms version of that sub and get a 500w rms 1ohms stable amp.... alot cheaper
