Now that I'm out of school and making some money it's time to ditch the 200k+ miles stock struts mated with cheapo-Ebay coilovers for something decent. I am fully aware that a lowered car with performance suspension will not be as comfortable as stock but I want something that will not compress my spine each time I hit a small bump in the road (which is what happens with my current setup). I do not autocross or anything, but I do want the adjustability that coilovers will give me.
Can anyone give me some info on the ride quality of the Tokico HP struts on Ebay matched to Ground Control coilovers? How about GC coilovers with other types of struts? Thanks.

It really depends on how low you make em and what size tire you are running. On my old mx3 this is what I was running and the ride was pretty rough for daily driving. Keep in mind i had them WAY low and was running a 40 series tire. Its a good set up but any performance spring is gonna be a bit rough. You may wanna just go with some good drop springs if you want more comfort like B+G's or Eibach's or sprints. I personally love the GC/tokico setup but its up to you
93SE-KLDE Theres a big peice of metal inside my other peice of metal now...weird???

It is alot rougher then lowering springs, but I love it, I love bouncing around like a dude with parkisons in the mx haha.
Smaller diamter tires make a difference as well, I was running 15's with the stock tires size and it was abit smoother then my 17's with a 40 series tire.
I will never go back to drop springs

Well my tire size is 215/40/16 and I leave about 3 inches of wheel well gap. It sounds like a lot, but I have a body kit and with daily driving I can't go any lower and it actually looks pretty dang good.
I am reluctant to purchase drop springs because I had a bad experience with Intrax springs a ways back-- I put them on my RS and the drop was virtually unnoticeable. Granted they are designed for the GS, but I still am afraid to make the investment given the chance that I will not be satisfied. Hmmm..I'll have to think on this one.

straight up. Lowering the mx-3 is horrible. The car feels stiff and eats up every bump... don't lower the car too much with coilovers. Tokico struts will last a good amount of time, but will be a waste of money if lowered radically.

I disagree... I have rolled on intrax lowering springs with tokico blue and kyb gr-2's and it feels like a stock ride only with better handling.Speedtech_7gc wrote:straight up. c/o systems will always have a rougher ride...
