Throtle Body Coolent Lines

Post by jaythewolf1985 »

My friend was looking under the hood of my car and was saying how on his grand am he bypassed the coolent lines that went to his TB for better performance when the engine is hot the TB wouldn't get hot and so the air comming in is cooler. Now my question is, will that really help with power at all or just create more problems then the little gain you may get in the end.

I bypassed mine. I seriously doubt you would notice an increase in power. I did mine just so i could use those lines for turbo cooling.

well the coolant runs through there so your car idles right... removing it... well that makes your car DOESNT idle right...

there isnt completely no gain in removing them, so why bother

I love mods like that.

You know, if you drove on smoother ground you might gain 1/118th of a WHP. Also, sand your paint smoother. Aerodynamics also cause more HP. While you're at it, get a VTEC sticker, and a big downforce wing.

The ammount of difference that would make is so encredibly minsicule.... you'd be better off doing a plain jane tune up. Plugs, wires, cap + rotor, fluids, filters. That I can imagine would at least bring you back up to near stock stats.

You can see if Outlaw makes a thermo spacer for it. If not, you could make one.
