Post by MAZDA SPEED MX-3 »

i read that you can use the 1.8 fly wheel in the 2.5 tranny when doing the swap.is this true. and if so what starter would i need, a 2.5 MT starter?

Yes you can saving you 5lbs or whatever on the flywheel.
IIRC:
k8 - 16lbs
KL - 21lbs
Fidanza - 9.3/9/5lbs
Aasco - 9.5 lbs

Either starter works to my knowledge, being as the entire tranmissions amongst the K series v6s are interchangeable.

My swap is almost done. I'm using the KLZE starter, but that's because it came with the tranny I got for it.

If you use stock gearbox I guess you should use stock starter.

Re: KL-ZE build FLYwheel

Post by MAZDA SPEED MX-3 »

well turns out i need a new starter any way so i'll go with stock, problem is i need a new flywheel do to the fact that mines all nice and blue and cracked. I cant get a stock one from advanced and wasn't able to find one on rock auto or google shopping. I would like to stay away from a pricy fidanza. And I dont think one from a junk yard would be a good idea. ill keep searching, any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

Answer the question and keep your petty arguements to your selve. I'm glad I never get into any disagrreements here. :) Any 1.8 or 2.5 Flywheel will work fine.
