Whats causing my turbos to fail?(FIXED)

Any ideas? Im uing restrictors, got a HUGE drain line.

I even used real garret and it smoked...

what am I doing wrong?

tons of bad ebay turbos, one bad nissan and one bad garret.. my luck cant get any worse...

[EDIT]

Oks.. i got the EBAY turbo to stop smoking..

well i just kinked the oil line a bit.. I noticed my buddy had it like that.

and another fellow turbo mx3 who uses ebay turbos. He is using a motorcycle oil line.

So im going to rig up some sort of regulator so i can regulate the oil psi at 20 which is what garret recommends on my kind of bearings.

there ya go!

we can use ebay turbos.. as long as we regulate the oil supply.

Cold psi was 75!!!! with the restrictor..

75psi? holy crap. do the ebay turbos just have a really restrictive path for the oil or something? It sounds to me like one of the biggest faults for the cheap turbo is that they smoke a lot. If reducing the oil pressure keeps it from blowing through the seals, maybe I'll play around with one.

Yea they arent too bad as long as you can maintain a happy level for oil pressure.
Though they tend to not perform as well as their legitimate counter parts. they use less quality materials and they use an ancient style of balancing the turbo, were talking 70's-80's style baby :crying:

I just needed to control the oil pressure.

I kinked the line.

It smokes when the line becomes unkinked LOL

I need to develop or get some sort of valve to control the pressure the right way.

Reading around, we only need around 20 - 30 psi for those turbo. Actually garrets

please let us know how you restrict the oil flow to the turbo as that might be a good reason for me to try out a kit sometimes if it really is that problem only

arent there ready made restrictors available to put between the oilline and the turbo to prevent these high pressures

and how did you measure the pressure at the oilline?

Use an oil feed restrictor.
.065 should be adequate.

you could get a needle valve for and hydraulic line with compression fit ends for the size of oile line your running, then you could have pretty accurate and reliable pressure.
