next project poll

Post by PWRD_BY_HKS »

Sad news folk. I had to get rid of my mx. Not by choice. It was more like a had to. I needed the money for a down payment on my house. So now I got some extra change and want to start fresh on something new.

Looking for something strickly for racing. That's it. Not for daily.

My choies and questions on these builds;
Option 1
323 ze swap possible boost!
I have built my own boosted ze before and f n loved it to death. Just imagining that set up in a 323 gives me wet dreams. Sure rthe car is ugly but light weight for sure.

Question here is how hard is the ze/ or de swap into this. Would a bp swap be better? Would the boost manifold even fit?

Option 2
4 cyl mx/escort gt. Boosted. Bp motor ofcourse.

The question here is. How much work does it take to boost this application.

I'm looking for the most cost efficient route here. Looking to get there with the least money I can. I got time since I'm now rolling on a 99 eclipse, nice but it aint no mazda.

Help me out here fellas I need opinions. Everything you can think of. Let me hear from those who have built those bp's

Thanx guys. Like I said all comments are welcomed. Even if its another chasis I didn't mention.

i went with a ze 323 winter car, never did get it going due to not having a rad that would fit. its getting repainted here in the next month and will only have a k8 until spring time when i rebuild both ze's. just because...im going to supercharge it as well just to shut some guys up. pretty much used a whole mx3 parts car for it though. i will post some picks when i put it back together next month, not that hard to do but there is not much room in front of the motor...about 3-4" to the rad support with no rad. my headers were touching it and there were no fans on it either.

motor pretty much just drops right in, easiest thing is to have a donor mx3 for all the parts. engine bay is almost exactly the same except its about 5" shorter in the front. if you dont have a donor car there is more work to make it fit and run.

So motor mounts like up ? As far as the radiator I'm pretty sure I can figure something out. Even if I have to put it infront of the cross member. I mean is it a bolt on swap or does it require re welding of stuff? Let's say I get everything copletely done w 2 grand including car. Will it be faster than 2 grand into a 4 cyl mx on boost?

check out clubprotege i know theres atleast 1 build thread on ze 323's and a couple into proteges which is the same. Pretty much the reverse of what i did. it seems like they run in the 13's pretty stock too.
