Going to the track tonite with slicks for the first time. Alllways ran just street tires and avoided the water box like the plague. I hear you want to start your car in second in the burnout box? So Im guessing you roll your front tires in and rip the Ebrake right? Man for alll my driving experience Ive never done this crap! Help?

i'm on drag radials but the same ideas apply... here's how i do a burnout:

roll into the water, set the handbrake

give the tires a quick, short spin. you only need them to turn around once, you are just trying to get the whole tire wet.

pull up a couple feet, just out of the water, set the handbrake again.

rev the motor up a bit... 3-4k. let the clutch out slow till it starts to bog down the motor, then drop the clutch and floor it. eventually you'll drag the back end foreward... or if you dont, let the handbrake down and keep spinning until you are well away from the water. please dont go past the staging line though, lol.

i have always done my burnouts in 1st, but you can experiment and see what works best for you. the most important part is letting the clutch out slow until it starts to grab. if you just rev it up and dump it, you WILL break an axle.

Excellant advice. I'll use it in the spring when I go to the track.
