Crazy tint question

Is there a tint that can be put on the outside? I am putting in Polycarbonate windows that scratch more easily than glass, and I know there's a film you can put on headlights...
I'd like to keep the sun out, and scratches away.

i've seen it done to back windows to preserve the defogger lines:

but i don't know how well it would hold up to the elements on a daily driver
