since the #6 cylinder is very small compared to the others can i have it ported to match the jets (sprayers) i really dont want to spin another rod bearing just because poor oil flow... any ideas?

Not really worth the time and money. Just use good quality oil and maintain your engine!

I would assume that jet is narrower so that the oil flowing through it has a little more pressure. In this case I would trust the engineers who designed the motor.

Some probetalk guys shimmed their oil pump pressure release, so the oil has higher pressure all round. The 6th does apparently get a bit starved by comparison but sufficient and quality oil should see you right. Personally I haven't decided on whether to shim or not...

I shimmed my ZE when I built it, no problems.

If you use the oil filter for the Corvette ZR1, I think it frees a little pressure, due to less restriction, so it's a little higher after it, especially if you use a good one like NAPA gold.

I havn't really heard anything bad about it really. But some people including myself just don't like the idea of messing with that type of stuff. My engine is in my garage I just rebuilt it, I have been debating on this or not, after a few days researching it I have decided I am going to do it before I put the motor back in the car.

Ask se7en about it, since he's a pro engine builder. I know it's common on Hotrods, but I've come to find some of those tricks don't translate.
