The engine in your car is a b6. If youre looking for a swap youre best bet would be something like a bp out of a protege. DOHC 128 hp or something like that. Youll need alot though, Tranny, axles, ecu, harness?, time, money. It aint gonna be easy. You might has well get a bpt while youre at it. :P

Yeah, you'll need the harness unless you want to do a lot of splicing. If that kinda swap isn't your cup of tea then replace some of the stuff from your engine with stuff from the B6-ZE (91-93 miata i believe). I've heard the cams will work fine, but maybe the head and all other guts will too.

so if i went to the bp and change the axles, ecu, wiring harness and tranny..what more would i need to do for a bpt? and isnt a bpt 6cyl? i found a place here in ontario to get a bp with all the extras for like 750, or i can get the bpt for around 1500. other then like a clutch and intercooler what would i need aside from guages and stuff?

I"m not quite sure on the matter. I have not done the swap myself. All i can say is use the search function. and the BPT is a 4 cylinder that happens to be turboed. you might be getting the BPT confused with the KL-ZE. That's an entirely different topic (talking 4 cyl to 6 cyl swap).

Nope, the BP or BPT are your best options when it comes to simplicity...as for mounts, ask someone who knows, lol

the b6t isn't any harder from what i have heard plus with the b6t you can keep all of your stock mounts / flywheel / coolant hosing / radiator you should still upgrade the trans although you don't have to. also search the swap cause someone posted a how to on putting a first gen bp into the new mx-3s cause it is a litle harder

hey ive looked through the forums and i couldnt find the one u mentioned. theres a guy whos done a b6de to a 2nd generation bp but not for the first. either way it sounds like im gonna have to change the ecu and harness for sure, but what i need to know is what bout axles, tranny and engine mounts for the bp? are they the same as the b6?

i believe you can keep the tans / flywheel / clutch / axles but the trans won't last long with a bp

hey the b6 i seen pics of has more of a rounded valve cover then mine. also doesn't the b6 sit in the miatas different? ill try and get pics of mine soon. i looked for the stamp on my engine and the only one i found was right under the head and above the exhaust manifold. it was somethin like b5517 i think it was, i know b5 for sure tho, so possibly someone did a swap before i owened the car with a b5 with a dohc head?? no idea im confused haha
