Sounds normal to me. Just the short gearing of our trannys  You could get a mx6/626? tranny if it annoys you that much! Should probably answer this in your identical post in transmissions :P

You motor is a small displacement dual overhead cam motor that lives in the high rpms. That is why the vris is set to open around 4k. It's very normal to be in the high rpms in 5th gear when on the highway. When I'm crusing at 80 mph my tach is at around 4k - 4,200.

Ps, the Probe trans only decreases it by about 2-300 RPMs at 80 mph. So unless you want to go through all that work for that little difference stick with the stock trans. I have a J-spec Mx-6 trans, but intalled it for the hard to find LSD. The RPM diff is not enough to make me work a full weekend... Anyway, you have a p[assing gear without downshifting how freek'n cool it that. The highway gear is one of my favorite things about the MX-3. :D

lol let see...I 've been doing this over a year now and I can prolly input into this ..stock K8...I gotta run about 20 minutes highway 4 times everyday (don't ask me why but I have to :? )

1st goes to 20km
2nd goes to 60km-80km (it will soar)
3rd goes to 80km-100ish ish then I just pop it into 4th or it will roar
4th is ok
5th I check constantly that its gotta be at 3800rpm or so to run at 120 km/hr
100km/hr I say 3500rpm also...but the power doesn't come in till 4000rpm but I say its pretty satisfying after that

its pretty rev hungry
I've got a pretty loud exhaust so it sucks or its good depends how you look at it

how does your engine sound like its going to blow? It should be perfgectly smooth and have plenty of power in the high revs!
