Quality disc brakes

Post by dmcdan0 »

I own a 96 GS, and want to upgrade the brakes. I just read a post by mooneggs about how slotted and cross-drilled are basically for looks only as it really adds nothing to a typical mx-3 daily driver. But I still would like that accent on my car , and was wondering if anyone knows of a quality manufacturer of these. I've seen ones on eBay, but I never know with eBay.

lol I bought ebay rotors 3 times now... first 2 sets were just CD, the last set was CD + slotted...

If you are going for looks my advice (since I have had both types) would be just get CD - don't get the slotted since they just end up getting all dirty in the groove...

I have these on my slow car:

This is what I used to have on my fast car before I bought cd + slotted:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Magnum-D ... enameZWDVW" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I have had no issues with them - brake wear has been normal IMO although I don't romp on my brakes much. I've been using this pad and have been pleased with wear/stopping ability:

I also upgraded to SS brake lines on both of my cars and use syn brake fluid.

Disclaimer: I'm not an expert on brakes nor do I claim to be - I don't do autocross or anything - my setup is just what I have been using for several years on normal driving with the occasional drag race/hard stop.
