Winter tires

Post by V8KOMX3 »

I have been searching for a great set of winter tires to put on my stock 15 honeycombs for a few weeks now and I was wondering what everyone else uses to get throught the snow and ice. It gets fairly deep and icy in Wyoming at times so I want a real good tire. I would be interested to hear what the Ice Racer uses for his tires as well.

Mmm, I haven't actaully used winter tires yet, but I just put on a pair of Bridgestone Potenza's, and they stick VERY good for all seasons. I live in saskatoon, so we get a few big dumps of snow every year.

Blizzaks are the best i hear for winter tires..

Seriously, if stud tire are not illegal in Wyoming, get some Nokian Hakkapelita 5 with stud. If not, stick with major brand they almost all have good product, i personnoly have some Goodyear Ulra Grip on my wife car that are not bad

Sweet thanks for the replies guys. Studdbed tires are not illegal in Wyo and there is a tire dealer for the nokian hakkapeliitta 5's like 2 blocks from my house so I am positive im going to get those. they looked plenty good for the icy roads of wyo.

A set of Michelin Alpine A3 is supposed to be the best winter tires here in Denmark (FDM test), don't buy the cheapest tires you can find, they are pure crap

I just put on a set of Hankook iPike 409 tires, and they are incredible!

They are studable, but I opted for the non-studded ones, and I am amazed by the braking grip I get on snow and ice.

well I tried to get the haka 5's however the tire company couldnt find nay available in the U.S. so I opted for the Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi which should be a great snow tire as well. I will keep an update once I get them on and do some driving but all I have read on them so far ws nothing but High praises and the dealer said they were an excellent choice.
