front struts?

Post by chertel »

I am at the shop getting my rear struts in and found out that I also need front struts/springs. Where can I get front struts or springs? or do they come as one unit? The shop cant find them through their suppliers.
Thank you for any help.

I just talked to the guy at the 100ave and 170st Partsource. They don't have a listing for Mazda MX3 front springs, but the strut they sell is part#71929 Munroe SensiTrac 116.49 ea. They do have a Moog part#cc890 Ford Escort spring for $125.46/pr. The spring will fit on the strut perfectly, but the rate may be slightly different. This is your best option for new parts. They are all in the city, so you can get them today.

If you need other parts like strut mounts, spring perches, bump stops etc. you can use either Escort ZX2 or MX3 parts interchangeably. The only difference is the hole in the upper spring perch on the front because the shaft of the escort strut is thicker than the shaft of the MX3 strut.

A good decision! The Koni struts and H&R spring combo should serve you well. Now that Mazdaspeed struts are no longer available, upgrading to Koni is really a no-brainer for serious enthusiasts.

PS: Let us know how they turn out...I'm always interested in hearing feedback about these kind of things.

The Koni struts and H&R springs are great. My tires rub a little under sharp turning but that is no problem. Also I have winter tires on now so when I put my summer tires on which are thinner low profile it might not rub but I am also worried the car might sit too low because the rubber is half as thick as my winter tires? Oh well it shouldn't be too bad.

wow wicked setup..Get some pics of this man. and you are aware that the koni are inserts. You will need to take your stock strut apart and put them in.
