new adjustable coiloverkit but are specs ok?

Post by turbulence23 »

i have a question about this loweringkit. soon this is being developed by ksport for the mx3 ( available through http://www.jeroentje.nl) for about 850 euro

what i would like to know, what driving feeling can i expect from this?

this is the data given from the developer:

Image
Discription:
Pillowball top mount: F?R Spring rate Kg/mm(1Kg/mm= 56 Ibs/in): Front 7,5 - Rear 5,1
can anybody tell me what this means and how it will act on the car ( or is this not enough info to know what the caracter is of this kit
2.5L KLZE engine, CF hood, Postert frontbumper, kmax skirts, custom diffusor..

honestly some lok down on K sports but for the price they are a steal. my buddy has them on his Acura and they are frekin sweet. adjustable plate camber and hight as well as dampening. you cant really beet it for the price. good quality as well. I have spent mor than that in my susspension set up alone.

400 For Koni Red inserts
500 for F/R Cusco camber plates
400 for Ground Controls

It adds up fast. And im not done yet

I was looking at a set of these for my mx, except they were 323 gtx ones, they had a 9k front and 5 k rear setup, the spring rates that you are showing here are better suited for the mx, 9k front is really stiff, but that was to compensate for the AWD setup in the 323. I have heard mixed reviews on the K-sports, but a buddy of mine has em and they are holding up so far just fine. I think they are comparable to Megan coilovers which another friend of mine has and feels about the same... Its your call, the ride will be stiff.

As with all FWD Mazda's I would swap the spring around and put the stiffer spring in the rear. You will notice a lot better cornering and straight line performance I run 275lb/in springs in the front and 500lb/in springs in the rear on the street. Ride is not much different that a set of Eibach progressive springs.

The major reason for the stiffer spring in the front from the factory or in suspension kits sold retail is product liability not the weight over that corner of the car. A car that plows or understeers into a turn is easier to pass off as driver error in a court of law than have a defence law say your car or product makes the car to responsive for the average driver to handle.

Off the shelf Hyperco main and tender springs with a one-off set of Multimatic coilover struts made about 7 years ago. Spring separator and seats were made in my shop after hours.

Guys like Dave,Sean and Steve cobbled together there own kits using Eibach ERS springs, G/C or other off the shelf coil-over componants.

There are a lot of older pictures of it on the net and in Super Street in 2 different issues 2000 the last time I took it to a car show. It was also in the Fast Wheels catalog in 1999.
