Wierd box

Post by WhiteFinish »

I just wonderd whatfore a small box is.

The box is located under the coolent reservoir on the drivers-side.
It's bolted against the innerpart of the fender/chassis.
Also when you put your key in your contact you'd hear a clicking sound out of the little box.

Just wondering, who knows?

I'm thinking ground point location ... but yeah without a pic... could be an aftermarket alarm or something...

There are a couple of boxes down there that appear to be relays or switches of some sort. I think I know what you're talking about. They slide onto brackets mounted on the fender, right behind the headlight. I had to relocate them when shoving the air filter down there. I don't know what they're for, but they sure have a lot of wires going into their plugs. They're like little ECUs.

/edit

I think I found one of them.

AHA that would make sense... I forgot that the question came from the Netherlands... it seems like most mx-3's over there have ABS...

i had to move them abit to get a fulter in there. they are relays of some sort.I used to hear them click when I turned my car on. Not anymore, and the only thing that change don my car is no daytime runners and no abs. so i donno if its one of those or not. Daytime runner module is near the strut tower, but maybe its somehow linked to it.

Yes !! That's the one

Indeed it's for the ABS (on your picture nr 3)

Does it has to be grounded??

Curious.. do those boxes only come in cars with ABS brakes? Or do you find those in most cars and it only makes a difference if you have the sensors? Reason I ask is that my GS seems to have this box (I'll take a pic tonight and post it in this thread to verify) but.. doesnt seem to have any sensors down near the axles. It does however have both the ABS fuses installed.
