To BIG of tires.? or to low of car?

Post by zoomzoommx »

when i put brand new 17 in tires on my mazda, the font ones got aten alive in less than a month. same thing happend to the 16 in ones but not nearly as fast. The wear is in the same spot, inside of the tire. right on the edge. and only on the front tires?.. anyone have any idea why its doing this?

It just means your camber is way out. Is you car lowered? You need to make sure you get an all wheel alignment after dropping it. If its eating tires that quickly, its probably got so much camber that you can actually see it.

When I dropped my car 1.5" I had about -2.5* of camber.

When I got my alignment I got a pretty aggressive setup, you might not want this if you are concerned about wearing out tires.

FRONT CAMBER: -1.5*
FRONT TOE OUT: 0.125"
REAR CAMBER: -1*
REAR TOE OUT: 0.0625"

It handles very well now, but I will be replacing tires rather frequently.

what size of tires do you have? i know i have 205/40r17 and well if i would go any bigger i would be hitting my strut and well if your tire is hitting your strut it could be wearing out that much quicker from rubbing...

more than likely you need camber bolts... pretty cheap on ebay:

I have them in all 4 wheels in both cars so when I get alignments done they can properly adjust all 4 wheels.
