Hector's turbo thread

Post by hgallegos915 »

Ok instead of asking in different threads, ill use this one.

So far I got this aiming for around only 4 psi,

Turbo pipes

T3/t4 ebay turbo(went to get it checked and it seems good for low psi but was adviced that is the cheapest made turbo around and i should only run it to start with but upgrade it as soon as i can)

Tial Knock off waste gate(had it checked and its good for the 3.5 -4 psi im doing)

knock off blow off valve (thats what it came with, will upgrade)

Oil feel line

Small intercooler.

Tial small yellow 3.5 psi rate spring.
-
vortec 12:1 fmu
-------

What I need

Wideband o2 and gauge(any place i can get one thats not over 300?)
Oil return line (pending buy with a guy i know)

Injectors(will probably use stock for the 3.5 psi)

AFPR (any particular brand?)

Boost gauge which ill get this week.

----

What else am I missing?

This is a temo setting to get it going of course.

--Update__

this is my wideband , well was looking at this and ill get it
(still wondering on lcd options)

So this makes, what, 5 threads on basically the same thing now? Are you just looking for reassurance from as many people as possible?

3.5 to 4 psi.. My god..

Why even bother with such a small amount of boost? You will never even be able to keep it that low even though you have a spring for it, it will definately go higher.

Also.. the fmu... OLD OLD technology.

Ill tell you right now. That wastegate will be perfect, you can run whatever boost you want with it and it will be fine.. My friend has one.. very reliable.. never gave him a issue. The turbo... most likely ssautochrome.. Its a chinese garrett knock off. Itll be fine to run up to 10 psi on but over that its just too much stress on it. Blow off valve will be fine as long as it dosent leak. FMU.. a death sentence.. just blindly craming in more fuel isnt going to make for a decent turbo setup. Bite the bullett and buy a megasquirt or something. Theyre cheap as hell and they work.

In my opinion any aftermarket turbo setup that is not using some kind of standalone is a ticking time bomb. The ignition timing in a stock ecu is nowhere near what it needs to be for a turbo and it WILL give you trouble. Do it right the first time and youll be better off in the end.

Its no use franko i've tried and got know where.

The truth most mazda owners don't have the money, the knowledge, nor the time and motivation to do a proper or at least a decent turbo/super/nitrious setup.

Im not rich i saved up for years. Bought the most expenive thing first a standalone and from there everything else. Lil by Lil i bought stored saved untill i had it all.

I wouldn't be anywhere near where i am know if i hadn't done a decent turbo setup. Its not the best it could be better.

Even with my setup i already went through 3 BP engines and 3 mazda trans and im on my 4th trans but its a kia trans. hope it last.

Being boosted is a lot of maintance u can't just drive it and neglected for days, weeks, months. constant mantance believe me. Or u'll be going through engines maybe evens tranny's

Like franko said "(opinion) any aftermarket turbo setup that is not using some kind of standalone is a ticking time bomb. Do it right the first time and youll be better off in the end."

If youre only going to hit 4psi...I say screw the turbo and go nitrous...Its simply not worth it.

What people dont under stand is you need a good standalone or a programed ecu for boost.

But I guess 4 psi isnt nothing. Thats like farting on a CAI.

You all doubting the potential of 4 psi are obviously 4 cylinder guys. A KLZE WILL respond quite nicely to 4 psi. I should know, I ran 4 psi when something was whacky with my wastegate. Either way, cranking it up to 6 psi will prove to be a substantial difference over 4. Now 10 psi, that is a whole different ball game. The FMU will definitely be good for 4 psi. Getting the kit installed and running on low boost is actually a good idea. After he is more confident and knowledgeable, he can always invest in a stand alone engine management system and a boost controller.

Now if he would do some searching and stop asking a million questions, the world would be a better place.

If i get megasquirt I wont even need the wideband gauge (laptop becomes that) soo yeah I guess its harcore overtime for me this weekend.
