need help overheating

Post by BornSticky »

ok so about a week ago it started. I would shut off my car and the resivoir tank would blow out water i thought it could have been a water bubble cause it wasnt really much like 1/2 a litre then i noticed 2 days later that there was water leaking out of the passenger side of my car took a better look and noticed it was coming from the drive pulley automatically i knew it was the water pump just above it so i pulled my car apart and replaced the water pump cause the water was comming through the fail safe hole thought ok done then started it up and idled really badly and today i drove it to work and it started all over again but now its over heating from blowing all the water out of the ratiator

my geuss is that it is the head gasket but i would like some opinions before i rip my whole engine out...

oh and im running the stock k8 with cai thats it
thanks

You definately have some extra pressure in the coolant somewhere. A pressure check of system will tell you if you have a leak, then checking the oil for water in it might tell you if you have a head gasket issue. Then doing a compression test will tell you if it actually is the headgasket.
