New guages, deck

Post by Darcy »

Tell me what you all think. I picked up some Speedhut gauges and a new Sony deck for my red RS. Got a fairly decent color scheme going on, but I had a wicked idea to put a blacklight in my gauge cluster instead of the green-covered incandescant to light up the needles.

He said speed hut.

And yup, that's a pretty sweet color scheme.

I like it! I've always thought about doing red... nice.... oh and you can pull out all the little "green covered bulbs" and take the green covers off and replace them with whatever color you want... I wouldn't recommend LED's because since it is on a dimmer switch it doesn't make them last as long... but definately change them out or take the green off!

Also have you modfied your turn signal lights yet? you can take the green transparent pieces out... get 2 coke bottle caps (if you want red) and cut them to the same shape - walaa you have red turn signals on your dash to match!

hey BTW what is the bottom deck? mp3 player?

I actually did take the green covers off of the needle illumination bulbs to make them more white instead of green, but like I said, I still want to do a black light conversion altogether.
LEDs aren't affected by dimmer switches. As long as the forward current doesn't exceed the specification, they'll last forever (almost).

Haven't done anything with the turn signals yet, but I'll keep that in mind. I was thinking of some kind of red cellophane or something but didn't have enough time to get around to doing that yet.

Yup. The bottom deck is my MP3 player. http://www.omnifimedia.com/products/omn ... tNum=87055
I have a 60GB drive.

Demanding bunch, aren't we?

I noticed a few days afterwards that there is no zero on the tachometer. I should see if they'll send a new one.

Inside my garage where it was a bit darker. (Lights off)

I backed out of the garage, so this is more 'daylight'. (Lights still off)

I'm just waiting for an Ebay shipment, and I'll be replacing the green blinkers.

The 'dash carpet' is actually my [s]anti-theft device[/s] paw-prints steering wheel cover. It is very effective.

U Might want to look into changing that green clock too! Perhaps blue would be a good color for it, and also for the blinkers... Just a thought!
