Post a pic- I've never seen any 16" Mx-3 rims. They were all 14 or 15 in N America.
Oh, and to answer your question. A 7" wide rim will fit, but comes close to rubbing the strut housing. You need to make sure the wheel is close to the stock offset so that it doesn't get any closer than it is now. Since I have not heard of a stock 16" wheel I do not know what your stock offset would be.

Come on, you can do better than that... I cannot see anything in that tiny pic. It is not that I doubt you, but that it is cool to learn something about a car that I thought I knew alot about already. Post a close-up and some close-ups of the markings.

if you go to the mx-3 home page and go down to 1993 mazda mx3 special edition it has a close up pic of the rims but for some reason it says they are 15's

Dont measure your rims, read your tires. I can have a lip that extends up 2" but wouldnt mean a 15" wheel is a 17".

If you had a 2 inch lip on a 15 your rim would actually be 19 inches in diameter....

hahah...sorry i just had to say that. Trust us all, MX-3's only came stock with 14 or 15's. I have an SE, and mine are 15's.
