Miata Sending unit for MX

Anybody think this would work in a 92 RS? Just the sending unit part I don't need the pump. I mean they LOOK pretty similar (no E light sensor thing hanging that I can tell but don't need that either) but we all know how that goes...ah, I'm probly just thinkin crazy:
