Crank sensor wiring?

Post by ExperimentX »

Ok, I've run into a bit of a problem with my crank sensor after replacing the distributor.

The car now runs great once it starts, but starting is a bit of a pain as it takes a good 10 seconds of cranking for it to start.

The code that comes up repeatedly is the crank sensor code.

The issue I have is this, my car is a '94 K8, but it came with a '95 style distributor, which kinda put me into a spin as far as engine electronic components go.

When I look at the plug that connects to the crank sensor, the part coming from the harness, it only has two wires running into the plug, while the one coming from the crank sensor has 3 wires going into the plug. Could I have the wrong crank sensor in the car atm? (this was done by my mechanic as its kinda tough to get in there)

Could anyone clear this up for me please? Is it just the wrong sensor thats in there now, or is that the way its supposed to be?
