Rear disc brake conversion rs-gs

Post by seboroth »

Hi there, i'm getting parts together to put discs on my rs. My big question is rather or not it matters which year mx-3 gs I take the parts from. I have a 1995 mx-3 rs and i'm looking at parts from a 92-94ish mx-3 gs. Hope you guys can help. Thank you

It really doesnt matter what Gs you take them from, make sure you get everything. I have heard you dont need the gs master brake cylinder but it wouldnt hurt to change it when you put them in & acutally i cant confirm this but it seems the 94+ dohc has the holes drilled for the transverse member. I talked to someone online from md who said that they were drilled in his 95. I have a 95 dohc & have not had a chance to look under my car

If I'm thinking right, and it's been proven that I don't sometimes, is the transverse member what goes up front underneath the engine, the cross member I think its called? Or is the transverse member the deal that all the rear suspension components are connected to, besides the trailing arms. I thought that was the rear subframe. But either way, I was going to grab the whole deal including that transverse member or the subframe or whatever its called, please correct me on the naming of that piece. And if it is really beneficial that I pick up the gs the brake master cylinder, I'll just pick up a new one. Please let me know on that too. I've looked on here to about page 80 going back to the first threads posted to figure this stuff out. Thank you for your help. (and sorry about the lengthily reply) :)
